Liberty ULTRA Raises Maximum Use Rate for Stronger Weed Control in 2026

BASF has announced an important update to Liberty® ULTRA herbicide: the maximum single-pass rate has increased from 29 fl oz/ac to 34 fl oz/ac, giving growers more power and flexibility to manage weed pressure in corn and soybeans.

The higher use rate delivers 20% more active ingredient per application, which allows Liberty ULTRA to outperform generic glufosinate, especially when weed pressure is high or spray timing gets delayed.

Research shows that Liberty ULTRA at 34 fl oz/ac:

  • provides 20% better control than generic glufosinate on 5–8" weeds in wet conditions
  • performs more consistently in dry, low-humidity environments results in 3.5× fewer resprays compared to generic glufosinate at max rates

The new rate structure now offers:

  • 24–34 fl oz/ac per pass
  • Up to 69 fl oz/ac annual maximum

Heading into 2026, growers should update spray plans, tank mixes, and budgets to reflect the new rate and talk with their TriAg agronomist to determine whether the higher rate is the best fit for their acres.
