Late-season scouting can tell you things the yield monitor won’t, and some of what you see now may help determine which fields need to come out first.
In corn, pay attention to stalk integrity, root lodging, ear rots and mold, ear retention, late-season plant health and disease differences between hybrids.
In soybeans, look at standability, stem and root health, late-season disease, pod retention and differences between varieties.
And don’t just look. Document it.
Take notes. Take pictures. Mark problem areas. Pay attention to which hybrids and varieties held together, and which ones didn’t.
Then compare those observations with your yield maps after harvest.
A few extra minutes in the field can help you prioritize harvest today and give you better information when making seed placement decisions for 2028.
Talk with your Tri-Ag agronomist about what you’re seeing in your fields and your 2028 Beck’s Hybrids seed plan.
