With wet conditions continuing across parts of Ohio, we're paying close attention to corn ear health as we move toward harvest.

Excessive moisture doesn't automatically mean high vomitoxin, but it does mean it's time to scout.

Look closely for Gibberella ear rot—especially in fields with a history of ear rot, wet conditions around silking, hail or insect damage.

Don't wait until the grain hits the truck to find out what's happening in the field.

Scout the ears. Identify potential problems. Test the grain. DON can be present without obvious mold, so I would recommend testing suspect fields rather than relying solely on what the ear looks like.
